The Project

Nestled between the lush countryside of Wetumpka, Alabama, and the winding Coosa River, sits the elegant new 283-room, 500,000 square feet, AAA FOUR DIAMOND Wind Creek Casino and Hotel. The property is the second branded Wind Creek resort development by the Poarch Band of Creek Indians, and the second Wind Creek resort designed by HBG Design.

The design intent, called “shaped through time”, expresses the Wind Creek brand through the ethereal ebb and flow of wind and water along the Coosa River, which had profound effect in shaping the culture and history of the Creek Indians.

Similar to the motion and pattern of wind and water, designers drew inspiration from the native “ribbon dance” to enrich the concept. The Creek dance comes alive with color and movement from long, willowy ribbons that reinforce its symbolic tribal meaning. Free-form elements inspired by water, wind and the metaphorical movement of the cultural ribbons gave structure to the design concept. On the gaming floor, new ribbon forms strengthen in mass along the ceiling plane, curving and intertwining around the resort’s show piece, a dazzling 360° aquarium center bar surrounded by lounge seating. Featured on the television show ‘TANKED’, this elevated, 16,000-gallon, oval-shaped aquarium showcases exotic marine life and creates an animated space for guests to mingle.
