The Project

Wisconsin Dells takes its name from the Dells of the Wisconsin River, a scenic gorge that features striking sandstone formations along the banks of the Wisconsin River. It was the strong, powerful effect of water sculpted by the passage of time and the “iconic striation” patterns of these regional formations--and their unique flowing geometry--that inspired designers at HBG Design when creating concepts for the stunning new expansion and renovation to Ho-Chunk Gaming Wisconsin Dells. This ancient convergence of water and rock has carved evocative forms that give shape and meaning to the design expression, translating to equally iconic architectural statements that help further differentiate the successful Ho-Chunk brand in the marketplace.

Within the new Ho-Chunk Gaming Wisconsin Dells hotel lobby, a spectacular two-story interior feature wall is crafted from natural, locally sourced birch wood and directly influenced by the Dells’ natural striation patterns. Horizontally stacked and placed in dramatic curved form, this stunning feature wall extends fluidly through to the exterior toward a grand new full-length window wall and fireplace feature. Interior color and material selections modernize the aesthetic sophistication of the property while introducing the new striated concepts. The casino’s popular Stand Rock Buffet was relocated to a larger, more convenient first floor area close to the gaming floor and was treated with the “iconic striation” concept using a wall of natural, locally sourced birch wood placed in vertical form.
