Over the past 10 years, HBG Design’s architects and interior designers have built an ongoing relationship with the Pokagon Band of Potawatomi. The design team has worked to strategically enhance the design quality and aesthetic over the Tribe’s four property, multi-state Four Winds Casinos brand in Michigan and Indiana, evolving the very traditional cultural brand aesthetic to a more transitional design.
Tribal motifs are used as showpiece elements within the overall contemporary design at each property, enhanced by sophisticated detailing and neutral color palettes, rich dark wood tones, geometric ceiling patterns, and a refined palette of tile, stone and wooden finishes. Specialty fabricators and artisans were brought in to create the distinctive tribal metalwork and artwork. To ensure cultural authenticity, the Pokagon Tribal Board developed the Pokagon Art Council to review all specialty artwork created at all four of the Four Winds Casino projects.
“The HBG Design team took great care to understand the nuances that would make our Four Winds properties special, focusing on how our guests would interact with each amenity and feel in each space. The team created overall highly sophisticated, contemporary designs to appeal to our cross-generational market, while incorporating The Pokagon Band of Potawatomi culture and heritage in unique ways.”
