Danny brings 28 years of professional experience in the entertainment and hospitality industry. He has created a body of work that is represented by a consistently high level of quality. His proven adeptness at analyzing data, his ability to facilitate client partnering, his understanding of issues related to project development, and his ability to think globally for the good of our clients represent only a sampling of the talents that have led to his success managing complex national teams. Danny continually strives to produce work which adds quality and meaning to the built environment. His work for the Chickasaw Nation of Oklahoma, IHG Hotels Group, and the Ho Chunk Nation of Wisconsin has contributed to HBG’s ability to strategically position itself as one of the nation’s leaders in the hospitality and entertainment design industry.


Paul Bell, AIA - Principal / Project Management

Paul is a gifted communicator whose genuine passion for design and acute attention to managing countless details have yielded a portfolio of highly awarded and profitable hospitality and entertainment properties.

With an infallible industry reputation for integrity, meticulousness, and empathy, Paul is a highly-sought after strategic problem solver who has managed many of HBG’s award-winning casino resort projects, including the Northern Quest Casino Resort in Spokane, WA and multiple projects for the Four Winds Casino Resort in Michigan and Indiana. He is a gifted communicator whose genuine passion for design and acute attention to managing countless details have yielded a portfolio of highly awarded and profitable properties across the hospitality and entertainment industry. Paul is a hands-on partner in client success; he is deeply invested in understanding a client’s needs - from back-of-house to guest reception; and his knowledge of what the operator needs on every level consistently produces highly efficient, market-driven properties. Paul mentors and motivates his teams to explore creativity and innovation in a collaborative, inclusive environment - integrating client vision, market demand and customer needs into finely tuned, competitive properties. Paul leads the firm’s Blue Group in the Memphis office and also serves as Project Management Discipline Leader for the firm.


Nathan Peak, AIA, LEED GA - Principal / Practice Leader

As Practice Leader, Nathan is passionate about ensuring that HBG Design maintains its leading edge in hospitality and entertainment design. Over his 20+ years in the design industry, Nathan has dedicated himself to creating engaging, uplifting expressions of architecture that are grounded in a vocabulary that celebrates culture, art, and geographic context with a modernistic edge.

Nathan's work has been a hallmark of the firm’s casino, hotel and resort practice for over two decades; his every project uniquely rooted in narrative and embodying the vernacular of a particular region to evoke a sense of place. Nathan’s broad abilities have been extremely effective in visually interpreting client culture and brand into achievable and engaging design solutions. His innovative designs prominently stand out in the marketplace and have received national acclaim; including the celebrated Four Winds Casino in Hartford, Michigan, winner of the 2012 G2E Casino Design Award for Best Native American Casino Resort and Best Overall Casino Resort (Commercial & Native American) under $250 M. Nathan is also a 2014 Global Gaming Business “Top 40 Under 40” winner.


Ray Mabry, AIA, LEED AP BD+C - Principal / Dallas Office Leader

Ray is a veteran of leading complex projects in the hospitality and entertainment market sector. He is committed to leading HBG’s Dallas Office with great passion and enthusiasm as he forges new frontiers in the national hospitality and entertainment industry and helps HBG build our professional community in the Dallas metro area.

Ray serves HBG Design clients as Principal-in-Charge and Project Manager, and focuses on premium and luxury brand hospitality, gaming/entertainment, and conference/event venue design. Ray originally hails from Abilene, Texas, and is a long time Dallas resident. His 24-year career in architecture has taken him across the country and around the world as a design leader, working for the last twenty years with HKS Architects in Dallas before joining HBG in 2024. He brings a wealth of design leadership and project management experience in the commercial hospitality industry for clients under most major brand flags in both urban and resort locations. His experience in the gaming sector also includes commercial gaming projects mainly in Las Vegas and Asia for various operators, and most recently MGM National Harbor. Ray has a project portfolio that spans across Europe, Asia, South America, the Middle East, and the Caribbean and has been instrumental in delivering brand hospitality designs that include the Hotel Drover in the historic Fort Worth Stockyards and both The W Hotel and Omni Hotel in Nashville, Tennessee.


Joe Baruffaldi, AIA - Principal/San Diego Office Leader

Joe is recognized as a clear and deliberate communicator who has a masterful ability to identify project issues and develop effective project solutions.

Joe leads HBG Design’s San Diego office. Throughout his career, Joe has built an extensive background working with gaming and hospitality clients from small to large-scale projects that maximize return on investment and strengthen customer loyalty. Joe is recognized as a clear and deliberate communicator who has a masterful ability to characterize issues and develop effective solutions. He is a proud contributor to the dialogue on trends in the gaming and hospitality industry, and has shared his extensive knowledge by speaking at industry events including NIGA, the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) and the Native Nation Tribal Casino & Hotel Development Conference.


Terri Struminger - Principal / Chief Operating Officer

Terri is passionate about fostering and effectively achieving a ‘Best Place to Work’ culture for employees in HBG Design's Memphis and San Diego offices.

As Chief Operating Officer, she works alongside the firm’s practice leadership to direct the strategic planning and vision for the firm, focusing on leadership initiatives, growth strategies, employee engagement and organizational excellence. A marketing, communications and human resources veteran with over 30 years experience, Terri successfully integrates the corporate support resources of the firm to generate inventive and original engagement practices that have been recognized nationally by NCARB, and regionally honored by AIA Tennessee and IIDA Tennessee for outstanding innovation in developing young design professionals. Terri chairs both the Compensation and Corporate Strategies Committees of the Board of Directors.


Emily Marshall, IIDA, NCIDQ - Principal / Interior Design Director

Emily’s creativity and interior sensibilities are transforming the way HBG Design defines the resort guest experience.

Engaging, vivacious and in-tune to the market are apt descriptions of both Emily’s infectious personality and her elegant, modern design aesthetic. Emily’s creativity and interior sensibilities are transforming the way HBG Design defines the resort guest experience. Emily’s passion for designing interior environments is based on the idea that the inside of a property is where the guest will spend the majority of their time - therefore attention to detail and connection to story must be engaging, welcoming and memorable. She artfully focuses guest attention to clever details and “touches of luxury” that shape and define the resort experience. Emily has focused her career on hospitality design both nationally and internationally. A rising star in the industry, she was recently recognized by Boutique Design Magazine as a part of their 2019 Boutique 18, which consists of on-the-rise, cutting-edge designers who are having a major impact on both the industry and their firms. Global Gaming Business also included Emily on their 2019 “Emerging Leader of Gaming 40 Under 40” List.


Dike Bacon - Principal / Business Development Leader

Dike's direct experience and knowledge of the gaming/entertainment and hospitality resort markets provides an unparalleled understanding of complex key issues facing clients and investors in these dynamic market segments. His knowledge has lead to key industry advisory positions; including a current role on the Global Gaming Expo (G2E) Board of Advisors.

With 40 years of real estate development planning experience, Dike has been involved with all phases of the project delivery process. His expertise includes pre-development investment identification, development program definition, market and feasibility analysis review, development cost analysis, site selection, site analysis, and use programming, master planning, and detailed site development design. Dike strategizes and helps clients transform business opportunities into long term successful investments. His direct experience and knowledge of the Indian and Commercial gaming/entertainment and hospitality resort markets provides an unparalleled understanding of complex key issues facing clients and investors in these dynamic market segments. His large scale project experience supports his leadership in developing sound tactical and strategic investment directions that balance client objectives with an appreciation of the market realities and the economics of the investment. Dike’s project experience includes entertainment and hospitality projects nationwide. Global Gaming Business Magazine recognized Dike as one of the ‘25 People to Watch’ in 2012. Dike is a member of the Practice Strategies Committee of HBG Design’s Board of Directors.


Kelly DeVine - Principal / Business Development

Kelly’s highly-charged creative development services complement the firm's professional design services, allowing HBG to create, design and execute successful content-driven developments for the domestic marketplace.

Kelly’s impressive 31 year career in the high-profile entertainment industry makes him a valued leader in HBG’s national gaming/entertainment and hospitality design activities.

In addition to his role developing client relationships, Kelly’s highly-charged creative development services complement HBG Design’s professional design services, allowing HBG to create, design and execute successful content-driven developments for the domestic marketplace. Kelly regularly participates in visioning workshops and assists with theming and design concepts for multi-million dollar developments nationwide.


Deidre Brady, AIA, NCIDQ, LEED AP BD+C - Principal / Project Management Leader

As both a licensed architect and interior designer, Deidre has focused her work on providing HBG Design’s clients with excellent service, team communication, and project management.

Clients and business associates alike describe Deidre as smart, determined, and dedicated. She has managed large-scale resort projects for multiple clients, including: Las Vegas Sands Corporation on a interior renovation and Ho Chunk Gaming on interior renovations and expansions of four of their hotel properties in Wisconsin -  aligning client vision with design execution.

 

Deidre is a founding member of HBG Design’s sustainable initiative, HBGreen, and is the firm’s foremost authority on green building practices relative to interior design. Deidre’s leadership in sustainability provides the firm’s clients with more informed choices about sustainable practices that can produce long-term operational benefits and the potential for greater returns on investment. When she’s not promoting sustainability at HBG Design, Deidre can be found helping her husband convert and renovate historic homes into flagship properties appropriate for today’s modern family.
